I am an artist who loves teaching. I am devoted to the power of observation drawing, and believe that drawing what you See is the secret to great painting. This blog is intended to share some of my paintings and experiences from teaching. I have taken up oil painting recently after not using it for 20 years - I am learning as I go and will share the ups and downs. I also teach my own Distance Learning Programme.
I asked my students to bring a teddy bear to class for drawing. It was so charming seeing them arriving, clutching their cuddly toys lovingly.. Great drawings, though pencil is difficult to photograph. This was such a popular subject - though there was nothing frivolous about it. The aim was to consider texture, and to understand that tone comes before texture
